Philosophy

Growing up on a dairy farm gives you a life perspective in your formative years that is hard for some to appreciate. Everything is “laid to bear” with regards to how this world works and although it helps to have this experience as a coping mechanism we still find ourselves struggling some times with the cold hard facts of a livestock business. I’m of course talking about the less romantic side of the business which requires managing herd size.

As the saying goes “every dog has its day”; so it is with goats. Although we have some goats that make it to ten years old it is not possible to do this for all of them. Farming is a business and this is the difficult part of it for sure. We do our best for our goats to make sure they realize their potential and treat them with respect and love. Like all living creatures they have their role to play and we try to honor the thousands of years of tradition humans have shared with goats. It is likely the longest symbiotic relationship in history; and one we are grateful to continue with.
